Scientific Library

Scientific Library of Fish Resources Research Department is a subject library, mainly holding literature on environmental sciences, fisheries, aquaculture and fishery. The library’s holdings include more than 20 thousand published works and originals on various media (books, periodical and electronic publications). Considerable part of library’s collection includes editions of ICES, HELCOM and FAO, as well as periodicals and serials of scientific institutes of the Baltic countries.

The Library, established in 1945, inherited the rich collections of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of Latvia’s Ministry of Fisheries of the 1930s.

Since 2006 the Library takes a part in project ODINECET (Ocean Data and Information Network for Eoropean Countries in Economic Transition).
